Tom Balfanz, M.D.Tom Balfanz, M.D.

Dr. Balfanz has been treating patients with chronic neck or back pain since beginning practice as a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation in St. Cloud, MN. After some time in practice he began using technology promoting intensive spinal strengthening specifically targeting the supporting neck and low back musculature. He found this more effective in treating patients with chronic neck or back pain than other approaches he had used. Motivated by superior patient outcomes, over the past two decades he has continued to fine tune this approach. He has found that spinal strengthening results in reduced pain and improved quality of life in the vast majority of patients. Also, this type of treatment fits his philosophy of time-limited treatment and then empowering the patient to maintain their gains through performance of a home program.

He established Sartell's Physicians Neck and Back Clinics in 2006, where he continues to use an intensive exercise approach in patients with chronic neck or back pain.
